Maple tree cancer alliance

After losing her grandfather to Pancreatic Cancer, Dr. Karen Wonders, founder and CEO of Maple Tree Alliance decided to put her education into practice founding an organization that facilitates exercise programs for cancer patients to support and encourage their healing during and after cancer treatments. With individualized exercise plans based on cancer progression and personal trainers, participants are encouraged to maximize their exercise to decrease fatigue and other symptoms associated with a cancer diagnosis. 


Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay

Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay offers a Safe and Healthy Homes Program. They provide the opportunity for local homeowners to have their homes tested for environmental hazards and then assists them in making the required modifications or repairs to facilitate safe homes that will not contribute to poor health conditions such as asthma.


Women’s Business Enterprise Council of Florida

The Women’s Business Enterprise Council supports women in business providing mentorship, education and business networking opportunities. The Pitch Competition is a program new to Tampa that will provide new and seasoned entrepreneurs an opportunity to learn the art of the pitch, practice their pitch in a small group setting, participate in the pitch competition and then finally get feedback and action steps to improve their business. 


MUHSEN

MUHSEN is a National organization founded by Imam Omar Sulaiman to facilitate supporting Masaajid to create inclusive spaces and accommodations for our special needs population and their families.

Our member Riffat Merchant will be working with another sister in the community, Suhad Abukhdeir, to foster an inclusive environment in the Tampa Bay Area. Examples would be respite care for caregivers, and events for families with special needs children.

Feeding Tampa Bay is a part of the national Feeding America network, and focuses on providing food to over 1 million food insecure families in the 10-county area of West Central Florida. The donation would provide one month worth of mega pantry food distribution, which will serve hundreds of thousands all over Tampa Bay. 98% of donations go directly into services.


ReachUp, inc.

Their mission is to advocate for and mobilize resources to help communities achieve equality in healthcare and positive health for families. They provide certified health and wellness coaches to families around Hillsborough County. Their 16-week program aims to improve the health and wellbeing of extended family members taking care of children in their custody. One of the main factors in losing children from their families into the foster care system is the health and well-being of the family kinship caregiver for the children. Donations will go to provide tools to complete this wellness program


firehouse cultural center

The Mission of the Firehouse Cultural Center is to offer quality programming with a focus on a full spectrum of the arts, and on education for all ages. Center programs encourage participation, engagement, discovery and learning. The Center works with all ages and people of all backgrounds. They partner with 13 public schools in the South County and Center serves many at-risk families and children through its partnerships with Mary & Martha House, a shelter for abused women and migrant service organizations. The donation would go towards the youth summer program to improve technology for robotics workshops for youth in the community.


IAM YOUTH GROUP

This youth group concentrates on character and faith. They run workshops, summer programs, and a chess tournament. They hope to preserve heritage, language and faith. There are about 45 students served so far, with many more served with public events and workshops. The money would go towards professional development for the teachers, scholarships and for the chess tournament.


Imprisoned Muslims Support Program

This initiative is a collaboration between 200MWWC and ICT to support 120 imprisoned Muslim men during Ramadan to provide funds to commissary accounts so that these men can buy dates and other goods during Ramadan & Eid. For example, lamb on Eid, Dawaah Materials, sweets & clothing. If you would like further information on how this program works, please contact us at info@200mwwc.org. Gigi’s Playhouse

Gigi’s Playhouse serves the entire Tampa Bay Area, assisting children with Down Syndrome. They offer 100% free programs for participants and their families. They are requesting funds for a speech and language program to support language development for the children they serve with Down Syndrome. 


Dr. Carter G Woodson African American Museum

Dr. Carter G Woodson African American Museum presents the historic voice of the St. Petersburg, Florida community from the perspective of local, regional, and national history, culture, and community. Our donation will support The Warrior Scholarship program that offers financial assistance to high school students with strong academic backgrounds during their 4 years in college.


End 68 hours of Hunger

End 68 hours of Hunger is a Tampa based organization that provides food to students and their siblings during the time they are not in school every weekend. They allow the children to pick up the food discreetly and provide them enough to eat from after school on Friday until school breakfast on Monday. 


Radiant Hands

Radiant Hands strives to empower women and families in the North-Central Florida region by providing them with spiritual, emotional, educational, and financial support with the goal of helping them to achieve independence in mind. In doing so, they hope to encourage and enable women and families to contribute individually and collectively in strengthening our community as a whole. Radiant Hands is seeking support for a storage facility to hold donated furniture for refugee families arriving in the country.  


 

2021 - Q4

 

1Voice Foundation

This group focuses on pediatric cancer with programs designed to support and assist patients in non-medical ways. They also do research and are currently working on a vaccine for leukemia. They have a 22 acre campus where they support homebound medical schooling and provide family support programs. The 1Voice Academy, is the first school in the United States for children with cancer. The donation would go towards laptops and computers to support their students on campus. 


New Life Village

New Life Village is an inter-generational, affordable housing community that puts into action the proverb “it takes a village to raise a child.” They either remove or prevent a child from foster care.  They currently house 100 residents, 60 of whom are children in the foster system.  The campus allows children and families to heal by providing stable and safe housing via a trauma informed community. The donation was requested for programming costs to provide classes and trainings for the children and their guardians. 


International Institute of Orthotics and Prosthetics (IIOP)

IIOP trains health professionals to receive a masters degree in orthotics. They are the only accredited Masters Program in the State of Florida & one of 13 Nationally. Orthotics and prosthetics allow people to regain mobility. There are 20,000 amputees in the Tampa Bay area & over 100,000 children living with orthopedic conditions locally. They requested money for laptops to help train these future orthotists and prostheticians. 


Let’s Be Safe

This program provides education to children to protect them from sexual abuse. Using a book and a bee, children are taught a difficult but necessary topic. The funds would be used to provide a book and a bee to every Elementary school family at American Youth Academy, Bayaan Academy, Hifz Academy and Universal Academy of Florida.
